COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to provide students with opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and necessary attitudes for a lifetime of personal fitness and activity. 

FORMAT:  The class meets every other day for half a year.

ACTIVITIES:

    Fitness run/walks                                   Weight Stations

    Circuits                                                      Flexibility

     Sprints                                                     Games

     Core Exercises

 

 COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1. To improve fitness levels for students of any level.

2. To establish a wellness lifestyle by teaching fitness activities.

3. To learn proper weight room behavior.

4. To learn basic techniques for various exercises.

           5. To learn which exercises work which muscle group.

 6. To record a basic circuit training workout.

 

GRADING

Students are expected to follow established class rules, conduct themselves in a safe and orderly manner, and attempt to do their best in daily activities.

 

     80% participation

     20% teacher assessment -  rubric attached

 

Grading points will be earned according to the following criteria:

     Cooperation             

     Sportsmanship / Team Work        

     Leadership/ Initiative               

     Ability to follow instructions

     Responsibility

 

 

Points will be deducted according to the following criteria                

     Tardiness

     Inappropriate behavior / not following directions                

     Disregard for safety and health factors                             

     Not following Student Code of Conduct                                     

     Unexcused absence
